Congratulations Grandpa!

We went to Mt. Pleasant for the weekend to celebrate Grandpa Lewis' retirement. Uncle Eric and Uncle Andy and Aunt Nicole were there too. We had a big bbq with lots of great food and brunch the next morning to celebrate. It was great for all of us to be together and Reese had fun playing with her aunt and uncles and of course Grandpa too. She did a little fishing with Daddy in the river and some swimming in her new kiddie pool.

Congratulations Grandpa Lewis, we love you! Can't wait for you to come babysit!

Loving Cottage Life...

We took Reese for her first visit to Grand Bend, Ontario at Grandpa Dickers and Granny Sue's cottage. A place that has been a summer tradition in the Matzka family for years and years. It was so fun to give Reese a taste of cottage living, which we all love!

Although the weather started off a little cool, it quickly turned into beach weather. Reese has proven to be a true water baby, splashing around in both the big lake and her kiddie pool. She loved having some quality time with her Aunt Laura and Uncle David too. She had fun swimming with Aunt Laura and listening to Uncle David play his guitar in the mornings. I think she thought it was her own personal concert :) Ryan, Erin and Finn came up for a visit and it was so fun to see the babies 'play' together and catch up with old friends.

We celebrated Reese's first Canada Day and 4th of July while we were up there. A BBQ at the cottage for one and fish fry at Purdy's for the other. Naturally, Reese had to get dressed up for both holidays!

We love everything about the cottage and always look forward to spending time up there so was so fun to share it with our (not so) little beaner. Thanks Grandpa Dickers and Granny Sue, we love you!

Here are some pics of our fun times up in the bend. Granny Sue- I don't know how you managed to escape all the pictures but we will definitely get you next time!

9 months

Reese is growing up so fast we can hardly keep up! Not much new to report since her 8 month update. She said her first words, mama, and even though I know she doesn't really know what she's saying, it still melts my heart to hear it. Another round of shots this month which she handled like a champ. Overall, still our happy, smiley, and now talking baby!

Here are some 9 month pics that include her first boo-boo (she dove into the leg of a table), playdate with AJ, getting into some Reese's candy, helping with the laundry and swimming at the pool (which she LOVES!).

8 months

We are really starting to realize just how fast time flies! I can hardly believe our baby girl is almost 10 months old now. She is such a happy girl, always smiling and laughing too. She rarely cries but will definitely let you know if her food isn't ready fast enough! She is proving to be a great eater, taking everything willingly and continues to open up for more so we keep trying new things. She is getting great with finger foods and really seems pleased to be able to do it herself. Her two bottom middle teeth have come in but never really seemed to bother her. She woke up a couple times but not sure if was due to teething or traveling. She has been on the move for the past few months straight. It feels like we've barely had the chance to sit down. We are trying to keep up with her the best we can, baby-proofing along the way. She loves to 'sprint' crawl if she feels the need to get somewhere quickly. Also is pulling herself up on everything and cruising all around the furniture. She loves to stick her tongue out and raise her arms above her head, doing both on command if we're lucky. Her latest move is dancing, with or without the tunes. Think she picked that up from her buddy Finn!

Here are some pics from her 8th month- a little behind on photos.

Showered with love.

Susan and Kara threw a shower for Reese and I a couple weeks ago. It was so great to see our family and introduce Reese to everyone. She loved all the attention! Thanks to everyone's generosity, Reese now has an amazing book collection. We feel truly blessed to bring Reese into such a loving family. Thank you all so much for coming - it was great spending time together!
